A system design interview assistant that gives you a framework, not an essay

In a design round you need structure fast. RightInterview turns the question into a cheat sheet you can think and speak from: the main rule, clarifying questions, APIs, a simple architecture, the hardest part and the failures to mention.

In short
  • Covers all 17 parts interviewers look for, each kept to a few lines.
  • Plain English, so you'll say “slow down new work when overloaded” instead of reaching for jargon.
  • Starts simple and adds scaling only when the numbers require it.
  • “Speaking notes” gives you 8–12 lines you can say straight away.

What the framework covers

  • The prompt in one sentence and what's out of scope.
  • What's being tested: duplicate actions, lost work, crashes halfway, out-of-order messages, hot keys.
  • One main rule the design must never break, such as “sold plus held items never exceed stock”.
  • Clarifying questions, functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Core data, 3–5 APIs with their retry behavior, and a left-to-right architecture.
  • The normal flow, the hardest part, and the failures, each with how you'd handle it.
  • Measurements tied to customer impact, 2–3 tradeoffs, speaking notes and a memory hook.

Follow-ups stay consistent

When the interviewer pushes (“what if traffic is 100× higher?”), tap Scale it up. You get what breaks first and the smallest change that fixes it, consistent with the design you've already described.

Questions

Is it only for big-tech interviews?
No. Add the company and level to your notes, for example “Amazon SDE II”, and the assistant aims at that bar. Without them it gives a solid general design.
